Amaan reached out to One & Only about a month before Canada Day. He mentioned he stumbled across One & Only's website when trying to plan his proposal from a distance. You see, Natasha and Amaan live in Vancouver however, Amaan made it clear the proposal needed to be in Calgary since that's where Natasha's family lives.
"I want it to be in Calgary so that she can share the moment with her family right away. I feel like she is in Vancouver for me and really misses her family. Her family has always been important to her," expressed Amaan.
Amaan knew without a doubt that he wanted to re-create their most memorial moment, which was on a LA rooftop (but the proposal would be in Calgary).
Natasha and Amaan met in 2008 in Toronto through friends. Even though Natasha didn't remember the initial introduction, they re-connected in Vancouver in 2011 when friends put them in touch. Natasha was moving to Vancouver for law school and Amaan was moving back from Toronto.
A few weeks after they started dating, they had both independently planned trips to L.A. His friends met up with her friends, and at the end of the night they ended up back at one of his friend's apartment. The two of them ended up walking up a stairwell and through a metal screen that was ripped in order to make their way to the rooftop. With a bottle of wine in hand and music from iPhone they talked and hung out on the rooftop with a perfect view of LA in the background.
"I knew right away," expressed Amaan. "She is incredibly kind, caring and smart. I trusted her to have my back through thick and thin and to always know the right thing to say or do."
One & Only jumped right into the planning process and found our ideal rooftop patio at Hotel Le Germain. Amaan was sold the second we sent him photos of the view. It couldn't have been more perfect! Once we had the location locked down, One & Only made sure we had all of our i's dotted and t's crossed when it came to the little details, such as: blue roses, acorns, photos of Natasha and Amaan, outdoor lights, candles (oh, so many candles), music, table setting from Orange Trunk Vintage Styling and Rentals, champagne, endless wine, dinner, and dessert. We of course couldn't have captured the moment without the help of our phenomenal photographer duo, Kaela and Elijah from K&E Imaging.
The moment finally arrived! Amaan and Natasha walked onto the rooftop patio, where Natasha was completely surprised. Amaan gave a beautiful heartfelt speech, got down on one knee, and she said "YES" with tears streaming down her face with joy!
After a couple of engagement shots, Natasha and Amaan enjoyed the rest of evening on the rooftop patio. To their excitment, fireworks were scheduled and could be enjoyed from their view of downtown Calgary. As they made their way to their room that night, to both their surprise, their entire room was romantically covered in rose petals, candles and more champagne to celebrate.
We couldn't be more excited for Natasha and Amaan and wish them nothing but a lifetime of creating new memories together.
